Ostrožac Castle

Ostrožac Castle is  located 14 kilometers north-east of Bihać on the left bank of the river Una. It is located 206 meters above the Una River. It was first mentioned in 1286. as a property of the knyaz (Slavic  title) Babovići of Blagaj.
This castle is the castle that has been settled for the longest period of time in the whole area of Cazin and it was reconstructed many times and today it represents a castle from a fairy tale for every visitor.
Some annalists claim that this castle existed in the year of 405. b.c, but it was never historically proven. There was a big number of rulers of this property and there are some information that say that the castle was richly decorated on a way that befits the castle. The look of castle dates back to the 16th century when the Ottoman Turks established the Ottoman province of Bosnia. A second addition was made to the castle between 1900 and 1906 by an unconfirmed member of the Habsburg family.
Today, it represents a tourist attraction of Cazin, Krajina and the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina.
